Vigan Fiesta

Vigan is a popular tourist destination because of its museums and architecture. Still, it is also known for its longganisa which is a local kind of salami. The dish is made in accordance with a century-old tradition and has a truly unique taste. Although there were several tries to replicate the combination of sliced spicy meat, sugarcane vinegar, and garlic, no one can compete with local chefs.
In late January, the Vigan celebrates City Fiesta and Longganisa Festival is included in the festive program. It's normally celebrated around January 22nd to January 25th—the dates vary from year to year. During the festival, every tourist has a chance to try authentic longganisa from Vigan. Usually, local people eat salami for breakfast but the food itself is too good to be eaten during the morning hours only.
It starts with me
Blessed with intellect and a set of skills, we, the human race, have been placed on Earth for a purpose, and it is our duty in life to discover exactly what that purpose is. As stated in the Bible, “to whom much is given, much is expected.” I believe giving back to society is, quite simply, a responsibility.
Many feel the task of positive change is impossible, something to be left to visionaries like Gandhi, who led a nation through passive resistance, or Elizabeth Cady Stanton, a heroic women’s rights activist. However, I believe each and every one of us can make a difference. And we can start this moment.
Changing the world begins with improving who we are on the inside. We each have a unique identity and our own distinct thoughts. These thoughts often propel us to act. So, by mindfully centering our thoughts in a positive direction, we can improve our actions and thus our character.
I can improve the world by consciously looking around and thinking, at every opportunity, How can I help? The most powerful way one can change the world isn’t simply by doing one thing, but instead is a way of life revolving around the concept of altruism. While some may side with the philosopher Hobbes and argue that every act is tainted by primal human desires of remembrance and power, and thus is not truly selfless, I disagree. Charitable acts are not selfish because they improve our society as a whole.
An altruistic act may be as small as smiling and wishing someone “Good morning” or as impactful as building a house for a homeless family. By completing small acts of kindness, I can gradually make the world a better place. Eventually, when I have the means, these small acts will evolve into greater deeds: helping people in less developed countries, adopting a child, or choosing a career where I improve lives. This lifestyle and kind acts all stem from the same root: self-improvement.
The Bhagavad Gita, a Hindu scripture, teaches that to perform selfless, kind acts, one must act with pure intention and a loving heart. This ensures the act genuinely will help others and not be self-serving. Additionally, this scripture teaches that you must surrender to the universe without expecting a certain outcome. As stated in the Gita, “Let not the fruit of action be your motive to action. Your business is with the action alone.”
The positive impact I can make starts within myself; by becoming a truly giving person, I can change the world. While self-improvement may seem a passive process, it’s actually a challenge requiring daily practice. It involves continually controlling my thoughts and actions to determine the type of person I want to be. My mission to positively change the world begins with self-improvement and concludes with making kind acts an instinctive part of my daily life.

New Days, New Changes

It is a special day for the people as this day is the
beginning of the new year and they welcome the upcoming year in their way.
People start the preparations for the new year celebration many days earlier.
People buy new clothes, gifts and many new things from the market. Shops are
full of the crowd these days. On the midnight of 31st December and
on 1st January there is a celebration of New Year in India and
all over the world.
After the Christmas celebration people wait for the 31st night, that is the day when we recall all the good and bad memories of the whole year and say goodbye to the going year and welcoming the new year. People celebrate this day with music and dance. Children are very happy about this as they get lots of gifts and good food to enjoy the new year party.
So many things have happened last year, but I will continue to take brave and faithful steps. I will continue to walk on the light even though I had no idea what will happen yet.

Reflection
This grading, I've learned how to be independent specially
on doing my activities and blogs. I should not depend anything to someone but
instead, do it with my own understanding. It teaches us more than basic
tools or softwares in Web Designing, it also speaks about finding the better
version of ourselves.

Essence of Christmas

This Christmas season,
it is important for us to bear in our minds the reason why we are
celebrating this yuletide season in the first place. In this month of December,
it is a must for us to remember that our Lord came in this world in order to
save us from our sins; He came to redeem us from the wickedness of this world.
We also have to
recollect the fact that our Lord God is humble being born only in a
manger. This is the message that is sent to us - we must learn how to humble
ourselves, no matter how rich or financially wealthy we are because Christ
himself symbolizes humility. Even though He is a son of God, He did not
demanded for a special “birthing place” or become “man” in a wealthy family;
instead, He was born in a poor family.
Anyway, the essence of
celebrating Christmas season is not to have a house full of Christmas
lights, having a tall and beautiful Christmas tree full of gifts underneath it
and giving expensive gifts. Christmas basically means sharing what you have,
not just the material things but also those that can only be felt like a warm,
tight hug, a simple thank you, showing our appreciation to our loved ones and
forgiveness among others.

As life continue to grow with outstanding achievements, there are also dark sides in this society. The more this community get developed, the more complicated it would be. Each year passed by, we have to face with many issues. Some of them are small, but some are not. Some problems caused the whole world to think and still not yet fixed. And violence against women is among them. Many women have to suffer from pain, both in physical and mental, without knowing how to stop or getting help from the others. No matter how many times women beg for help, society turns a blind eye to them, families put pressure on them, and people around trampled on them, make them realized that they don’t have a voice in this world.

Environment Awareness Month
Environmental awareness is an integral part of the
movement’s success. By teaching our friends and family that the physical
environment is fragile and indispensable we can begin fixing the problems that
threaten it.
Damaged to environment is caused by the activities of
individuals who are not conscious and who do not have adequate knowledge of the
environment. For example, when we cut forests on a large scale to get timber
and fuel wood or clear land for agriculture, we damage the environment.
There is no doubt that agriculture is essential, grazing of
animals is unavoidable, forests have to be harvest for their produce,
industries and thermal power plants have to be set up, dams have to be built
and automobiles have to run for transporting people and goods. We cannot do
away with these.
Children's Month

National
Children’s Month is celebrated every October here in the Philippines.
Mandated by Presidential Proclamation 267, it is a time to recognize the value
of Filipino Children as the most valuable assets in the society. Observed
by Government and Non-Government agencies around the Philippines, the
month-long celebration is also a campaign to end violence against children and
to promote their physical, emotional, moral, spiritual and intellectual
well-being.
Stairway
marked National Children’s Month with plenty of enjoyable and inspiring
activities for the children. The month ended with a wonderful awards ceremony
recognizing the talents and personal achievements of the children.
Values Month

November is “Filipino Values Month.” It seeks to promote greater consciousness of values that are uniquely and positively Filipino – love of God and country, strong family ties, care and respect for elders, diligence, patience, loyalty, hospitality, bayanihan, generosity, regard for personal honor and dignity.
The observance is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 479 dated October 7, 1994. Activities to celebrate the event include poster-making, slogan contests, fun run, lectures, cooking tilts, dance contests, and essay writing in schools.
Values are the roots of traditions that Filipinos find important in their day-to-day events. They are instilled early in life, are deeply ingrained, and are resistant to change. They are developed from people’s direct experiences with others who are important to them, such as parents, teachers, friends, and classmates.
The family is at the forefront of instilling values among Filipino youth, with the home as the place for nurturing and strengthening values. Schools reinforce these values by providing opportunities for the youth to observe the values that they have imbibed at home and in their interactions with peers and superiors.
